These potted plants make great little hostess gifts. This weekend I am traveling to Naples Florida to visit my dear friend Bonnie. We make it an effort to get together once a year. I thought it would be fun to make her one of these plants and bring her some of my favorite Oceana Coffee.
I am using a latte mug designed with a replica of my original watercolor artwork. There are lots of latte and coffee mugs to choose from in my online store Do Tell A Belle on Zazzle. These planters make great gifts for bridesmaid proposals, housewarming gifts, realtors gifts and just plain ole “I am thinking about you during this COVID pandemic season.”
Here’s what you will need:
- small potted plants (I used succulents)
- latte or coffee mug
- cactus soil
- garden pebbles
- small shovel or spoon
- water
Here’s how to make them:
1. Add some pebbles to the bottom of your mug.
2. Add cactus soil on top of the pebbles
3 Add your succulent. Be sure that you buy small succulents so that they fit in the latte mug. Gently remove the succulent and its roots from the plastic container and place it in the mug. If it does not fit initially, delicately remove excess soil from the base or sides.
4. Clean up any loose soil and add a layer of decorative pebbles on top for a nice finishing touch.

There you have it! I hope that you enjoy this DIY idea as much as I do. While I am in Naples, Bonnie and are going to visit the Everglade Wonder Gardens. I will be sure to gather lots of inspiration for my watercolor artwork. Be sure to check back soon.
