I always like to serve a signature cocktail at my parties…and this autumn season I have created a traditional white wine sangria using Pinot Grigio and 43 Liquor, giving my sangria a fall harvest twist. Licor 43, or Cuarenta y Tres, which is 43 in Spanish, is a sweet, vanilla flavored liquor. It is produced in Spain by the Diego Zamora company using a total of 43 flavoring ingredients, including citrus and other fruits, herbs and spices. I paired these flavors with fall fruits, such as red pairs, golden delicious and fuji apples, making my fall sangria as pleasing to the eye as it is to the pallet. It is simple to make and whips up in minutes. I like to make mine the day before and refrigerate it over night to allow the flavors to infuse together.
Ingredients:
1 bottle of Pinot Grigio
1 cup of Licor 43
Segram’s Seltzer or Club Soda (optional)
1 red pear
1 delicious apple
1 fuji apple
1 pitcher
Recipe:
Chop fruit into bit size pieces and place them into your pitcher. Add in the Pinot Grigio and Licor 43 and give it a stir. Place your sangria in the refrigerator over night to allow the flavors to infuse together.
When I am ready to serve my sangria I typically place it on my buffet with some glasses and club soda to allow my guests to help themselves. They can fill their glass and enjoy it as is or top it off with a bit of club soda or seltzer for a crisp, clean taste.
