Deck my halls with beach house jolly… Decorating my new space for the holidays is one of my favorite things to do. If you don’t live in Florida, you might think it is not all that Christmas-ie down here. Oh contraire. I find that people go above and beyond in pursuit of capturing the holiday spirit. In fact, there is nothing quite like Palm Beach County this time of the year. And I would imagine that the holiday spirit is alive all over Florida. In fact Jodi, lives in Naples. Every year her entire neighborhood goes all out decking the halls, the palm trees and their patios in preparation for their annual holiday block party.

I enjoy crafting my own decorations. When I saw Jodi’s post, I couldn’t wait to get started on building wooden stick Christmas trees of my own. I was inspired to use them in my beach house table scape design. Below are the steps that I took to help me visualize the look and feel that I wanted to achieve. To learn how to make your very own wooden stick Christmas trees, follow the link at the end of this post.

Step One – Gather Ideas

When conceptualizing my ideas, I turned to social media. Pinterest is a fun tool for gathering inspiration for your tablescape project. In fact, I have curated a table scape board especially for my readers. Click here to start gathering inspiration for your tablescape. I was drawn to several ideas from Scandinavian, to boho chic, to minimalist. Guess I have always been a bit eclectic in my style.

Step Two – Draw Up Some Quick Sketches

Once I gathered a few of my favorite ideas I drew up some rough sketches. This helps to keep me focused on what I will need to complete my project as well as stay with-in my budget. Otherwise I will be mesmerized by all of the pretty Christmas décor while shopping and lose sight of my end goal.

Step Three – Choose a Color Pallet

I love the look of fresh greenery and wanted to extend the theme upward onto my glob lighting fixture hanging above my dining table. I also wanted to keep a simple and minimalistic look with a neutral and white color pallet. When choosing your color pallet I suggest picking two to three colors that appeal to you. Any more than that and your table scape will look busy. This is my color pallet.

Staying true to a minimalist Scandinavian goes beach house feel, I began making a list of the items I would use in my table scape.

Step Five – Build Your Tablescape

This part should be easy now that you have all of the elements. Use your sketch as a guide. Once I completed crafting my Stick Christmas Trees I could begin decorating and thus enjoying the fruits of my labor.
